Mrs. Doneghy's Counseling Connection |
9/30/2020 showing CompassionIn our counseling lessons during September, we learned about compassion and how to show it to others. You show compassion when you see a need and you act on it to show that you care. Some examples we discussed were volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Must Ministries, or a local animal shelter. Other examples include giving food, clothing, or your time to those in need, encouraging someone, and helping people who are hurting or simply need someone to listen to them. We also talked about self-compassion, which is being kind to yourself when you make mistakes. They enjoyed the following video which help them better understand how to show compassion to others: https://vimeo.com/282518502. As you are aware, we will be welcoming students back for face to face learning at Nicholson on October 5th. To help keep everyone safe, all staff and students will be required to wear masks. Please have your child practice wearing them so it will be easier for them when they return to school. Here are some tips and a cute video to help your child.
